Success and Health. When you first hear these two words together, you can’t help but wonder how, if at all, are they connected. Obviously, they’re both good things to have in life. But did you know you really can’t have one without the other? Or at least you can’t without a whole lot of work.

Being successful requires a lot from you. To achieve your goals, you’re going to need some enthusiasm and ideas. You require ingenuity, solid planning, and a whole lot of hard work to make it happen. This is especially true when you have big dreams you’re going after. This also means you’re going to need every advantage you can get.

Here are the hard facts of the matter. Success under these circumstances is going to come with a lot of hard work, a dose of luck, and one added ingredient to make it all happen: Your health.

Being healthy means, you have the energy to put into the enterprise. You hold enough strength to stay the course, and your brain is in tip-top condition, so every decision you make is a sound one. Without health, you’re going to struggle every step of the way. With health, you’re going to work hard, but you’re going to have the reserves to make it.

In short, you need health to succeed. Without it, you’re stacking the deck against yourself. Think about it this way. Your good health is only going to benefit you.

Of 1,300 people asked about fitness, 75% noted physical fitness as one of the critical factors in their success. Every last one of the people on this particular list makes more than $100,000 every year.

Good health is a crucial part of who they are. Even more important is how much their good health has impacted their ability to succeed.

Think about Michelle Obama. As First Lady, she kept a grueling schedule. Just to accomplish what she needed to do in a day. Performers require good health as well, so they can give their best. A lackluster performance from a singer having an off day can quite quickly become their last. But energy and enthusiasm cannot be faked for long without everything falling apart. Even CEOs take time out for exercise and balancing their diets. They know that fitness, healthy eating, and success go hand in hand.

Think about this: How can you possibly maximize your productivity and accomplish everything you dream of if you’re too tired to get started? What’s going to give you the staying power to dive in and get the work done if you’re feeling lethargic? How can you possibly make good decisions about anything when you’re lost in a brain fog brought on by a food coma?

In short, you might be sabotaging yourself by not taking proper care of yourself. If we want to achieve success, our wellness, fitness and nutrition need to take center stage.

Our good health is absolutely necessary to be successful. Consider these things:

  • When you exercise, your brain function improves because you’re getting more oxygen to your cells. You’re creating serotonin and dopamine, brain chemicals that are necessary not just to feel good but to think and make better decisions. You improve memory, learning and even have more energy all from the physical act of moving.
  • Paying attention to your diet means putting foods in which give energy. The right nutrients repair damaged cells faster and even helps your brain to grow. You think clearer. The food itself helps to build muscle and increases stamina, so you’re better prepared for long days working.
  • Getting enough sleep doesn’t just give you rest; it also rejuvenates tired muscles. You grow best while sleeping, and here is where the bulk of healing occurs. Without sleep, everything slows down, including your ability to make decisions.

In the end, there is little doubt health and success go hand in hand. Of course, the trick is in figuring out how to pull your body into alignment with your goals.

Exercising on a regular basis, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, getting regular doctor checkups, and taking care of your overall wellness is essential to your continued success. The sooner you start, the sooner you will start seeing positive effects. Start today!
